One of the most attractive features of digital photography is the degree to which an image may be manipulated after it is captured. In order to illustrate a handful of the possibilities I’ve taken a small low resolution picture of a butterfly and performed several digital transformations on the image. This shows the range of artistic license that can be taken with a simple photo. Digital images may also be overlapped, stretched and blended allowing the creation of a large panoramic image from several smaller images. Besides providing a medium ideal for the display of scenic vistas this technique yields particularly attractive results when used in conjunction with high speed sequentially exposed pictures of moving objects such as this motorcycle.
